General Contractor Membership
Our Association represents 150 highway-heavy construction firms operating within the State of Oklahoma. These member firms perform more than 95% of the highway-heavy construction within the state. The Association is both a highway-heavy chapter of The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and an affiliate of the national American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). The services of both these fine contractor associations are available to our members.
Our Association provides a wide variety of services to the highway-heavy construction industry performing work within the State of Oklahoma. We maintain joint working committees with the Corps of Engineers, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, as well as the principal cities and towns within the State. Monthly, our members receive the Association Magazine, which provides up-to-date information on subjects affecting the highway-heavy construction industry. Urgent supplemental information is mailed out to our members on an as required basis.
We have one of the few on-the-job training programs, which has the approval of the U. S. Department of Labor for the recruitment and training of minorities and women. Participation by our members in these on-the-job training program meets the training requirements for the affirmative action programs required on Federally funded construction projects and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation percentages.
If you would like to apply, please contact us as noted below to obtain an application form. When you return the completed application, we will invoice your firm for a one-time only cost of $500 for your initiation fee. The Board of Directors will then review this application, when accompanied by your check, to vote on your firm's eligibility for membership.
Our volume membership dues are as follows: $500 annual Oklahoma chapter minimum dues plus 2/1Oth's of 1%, or $2,000, on the first million dollars of work constructed per annum, and 1/1Oth of 1%, or $1,000, on each million thereafter. (There currently is no maximum cap until the new building is paid for.)
In order to become a member of the Oklahoma Highway Chapter, you must become a member of the National AGC. Their minimum dues are $425 for Home Chapter members (home construction office in Oklahoma) and $250 for Non-Home members. These dues are billed through our chapter on an annual basis.
